Merry Christmas Classmates,

Good news about the new web site listed below ~ our classmate (aka “Santa Claus”), Denny Shimp, has fully funded the site ~ no more donations are needed ever!!!  Thank you, Denny.    

Class Report Site

I hope you go on the site, click on every underlined word along the blue banner at the top and see what is there.  On the left side are the following:

• ·      The homepage photo ~ send me pictures you want to see on the site ~ I’ll change it often ~ Glenda is featured this week with grandkids
• ·      See class news ~ nothing there yet until I figure out something ~ Any ideas.
• ·      Listen to music from the 50s and 60s ~ I’ll add more of the top songs later (Doug Bedient compiled a list of the top songs for me to use)
• ·      Read and/or add to Our Class Message Board (check back often to see what has been added ~ a Christmas letter from a classmate ~ Does anyone else want me to post their Christmas letter ~ check back often to see new messages and pictures
• ·      See what classmate is the “Today’s Featured Biography” ~ this randomly changes daily.
• ·      View all biographies ~ these biographies include your high school and current photo as well as the info in our 50^th reunion booklet.
• ·      Read and/or add to the Family News Summary
• ·      View all calendar items ~ nothing there yet ~ any ideas??  Send them to me
• ·      Check out “Today’s Featured Class Member Website ~ also changes daily at random ~ if you have a personal or business website, let me know
• ·      Watch the three slideshows ~ 1961 class reunion, individual pictures, all other reunions and pictures in the 40s, 50s, and 60s

 On the right side of the page you can:

• ·      Register for the site if you haven’t already done so
• ·      Log in so you can add items for classmates or change your bio
• ·      Look at the class directory stats ~ shows state locations of classmates
• ·      See which classmate is having a birthday this month or view all birthdays
• ·      Take the class poll so I know what you are thinking ~ any other ideas for polls, let me know.
• ·      Check out the featured links ~ our original class blog is listed here as well as other fun stuff.
• ·      Add a recent review ~ this is up to you, classmates!!
• ·      Recommended recipes ~ this is up to you, classmates!!
• ·      Prayer requests ~ please add any prayer requests
• ·      Visit other classes of AHS ~ I haven’t found that any other class is using this site, but if you want to suggest the site to other graduating classes, please do so.

Sad news of a classmate’s extended family ~ 11/30/11 ~ from Cheryl Edwards via Sandi Reno ~ Mary Lou's (Reno) grandson (CJ Kohut ~ 18 years old)  was found unconscious in his dorm room at WNCC.  He could not be revived.  Mary Lou’s email is mlkline@embarqmail.com

ü I have heard from Paul’s family ~ his obituary is now on his Memorial page on the blog ~ if any of you want to send me memories of Paul, I will post them on his page for his family to read.  Paul’s family sent me a message saying they “love to hear the stories of his childhood”.

I am so sorry to have to send you this message.  Today I heard from Paul Thiessen’s daughter-in-law, Trichia; and Mickey Coleman forwarded a message from Paul’s son, Scott, that Paul Thiessen passed away on Wednesday, 11/23/11.

According to his son, Scott (email scott823@woh.rr.com):

I am sad to say that my Father (Paul Thiessen) passed away yesterday.  Dad was an unbelievable Father and an extremely talented musician.

As a musician myself, he was my inspiration!  We will all miss him deeply.

Update ~ Roger Brooks gave me a pdf file at the reunion about John Anderson.  I have updated John’s page with three pieces of information/photographs.

Christmas ~ please send Christmas greetings or your Christmas plans to add to the blog for all our classmates to receive.  I will add them to a Christmas blog by 12/25.

The “I Remember When” post is still available for any stories you may remember about our school days in Alliance.

The “Message Board” post will always be available for any messages you want to share with classmates (travel; work/retirement; weddings, births, deaths, illness; change of contact information).

Let me know if you think an extended family post would be interesting (pictures of your parents, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, pets).  I will create a post if classmates send me pictures or news of their extended families ~ college graduations, marriages, new additions to your family. 

Do any of you have any ideas to create interest in our class blog?  In 2016 we will have another reunion in Alliance, our 55^th class reunion.  Help me help us stay connected through this blog!  You tell me what you want to read about on the AHS 1961 Class Blog. Thanks.

A new post has been added ~ October ~ After the 50^th Reunion ~ I apologize for my long absence.  I helped organize a Phillip Family Reunion in Alliance (two weeks after our 50^th reunion).  Immediately after the family reunion, Tony and I left for England for five weeks. 

Birthday Posts each month ~

Ø Thank you to Eleanor Austen for anagramming all the names each month for the birthday blog.

Ø Paul Nelson has to get credit for figuring out who everyone was each month, but he was a little sharper than the average computer user ~ he noticed that if you put your mouse over each “young” picture, the name of the file was there ~ of course, the name of the file was the name of the person…..so he never got credit for winning each month!!

Ø Cheryl Edwards Harris and Glenda Harvey Rusk provided a laugh for me during their birthday months ~ each of them emailed me and said they were not on the list during their birthday month….each of them were looking for their anagrammed name and couldn’t find it ~ they were looking for their married name not their maiden name!!!

Ø OCT WINNER POSTED  Carolyn Cole was the winner of the September birthdays ~ sent in on 9/8.  I won’t be doing the birthdays any longer but they will remain on the Blog.  A full twelve months was posted ~ October 2010 ~ September 2011.  Thank you all for getting your “young picture” to me.

Thank you to all classmates who attended or donated to the 50^th class reunion.  Because of you, my registration fee and picture were paid for by the class.  The Reunion committee also voted to honor me with a gift certificate.  I will always say that I’m the one that had the most fun ~ being able to communicate with all of you for a full year before the reunion!!  Thank you for putting up with my emails and phone calls.  I have been asked many times if the Blog will continue.

I would be more than happy to do so ~ however, it will be a more interesting Blog if you, our classmates, send information to add to the Blog.    We have three interactive posts ~ please send information to me anytime to add to these posts.  Thanks.
