#2 ~ Class Reunion Committee meeting #2 ~ The AHS and St. Agnes classes of ’61 met Sept. 21, 2015 at 7:00 at
Hoffhaus. Classmates present were: John
Zochol (St. Agnes), Art Flores, Lloyd Howell, Janice Phillip Lawrence, Mickey
Coleman Aruffo, Dyna Tayolor Kozal, Cheryl Edwards Harris, Wanda Walston Beiber,
Connie Sherlock Ackerman and Rosa Lee Cornette Hoff.
#1 ~ On August 10, our 1961 AHS Class reunion
committee held the first class reunion meeting.
It was well attended and everyone said they are ready to have another
reunion in 2016! There were 11 classmates attending. (Wanda Beiber, Art Flores,
Micky Aruffo, Lloyd Howell, John Bauer, Lennie Heckman, Dyna Kozal, Janice
Lawrence, Connie Ackerman, Rosa Lee Hoff and Cheryl Harris). The committee will invite Rick Schafer and
Carolyn Hoppes Guzman from the St. Agnes class to their next meeting.
Today is Penny Wright’s birthday. Happy Birthday, Penny.
I should have posted this earlier ~ remember last year when
Eleanor scrambled all the names of classmates each month…and we had very young
pictures of most of our classmates. This is the September web site with
the September birthdays posted last in 2011.
Hopefully by next month I will have the SAA birthdays also.
Who will be the first one to send in their reservation for the
55th class reunion?
Remember, I need at least a paragraph from each of you telling
us about the last five years. Pictures are encouraged also.

Now…from any and all of you (AHS & SAA), I would like to
receive information about your life in the past 5 years. There will not be a booklet this year as
there was for the 50th in 2011.
So…let me hear from all of you. I
will post your “past five years” on the Blog at this site. (Possibly the SAA classmates would like to “fill
in the blanks” for the past 55 years.)
Also, use our message board
whenever you have news you want to share ~ In August I put up messages/pictures
from Cheryl Edwards, Tom Kosmicki (SAA),
Dick Graham, and Rich Voss.

And finally, we need volunteers to be in the Masonic building
during our Saturday reunion day. Please

From Cheryl Harris (class reunion committee meeting, June, 2016) The special events that I
said I would let you know about were:
A tour of the new hospital at
10 am and a reception at Carnegie at 2:00 on Sat. Carnegie will have
drinks and snacks for us.
We must have been so busy
talking that we didn't set a date for the next/last meeting. The reunion
committee will meet will meet Monday, August 8 at Hoffhaus to make sure
everything is ready.
We ask that your reservations
be in by July 31st. We need to be able to give numbers to the caterers.
Hope to see lots of
classmates!
Andy Sutton was in our class
at one time but didn't graduate with us - correct? There is a notice in
the paper tonight. Andrew Sutton, 73, died Sunday, June 12, at his
home. Memorial services are pending. at Bates-Gould Funeral Home.

From Cheryl Harris (April 18th committee meeting) ~ John Zochol (SAA), Janice Lawrence, Mickey Aruffo, Wanda Beiber, Connie Ackerman, RosaLee Hoff and Cheryl Harris met 4/18/16 to firm up plans for the Class of '61 Reunion.
The
committee hopes that as people register for the reunion, they will also sign up
for a time slot to be at the Masonic Center.
The date, place and food arrangements were finalized as much
as possible at this date. We will open
our reunion at the Skyview Golf Course Clubhouse, Friday, September 9, 2016 at
5:30 p.m. There will be hors d’oeuvres
and a bar is available.
Saturday, September 10 we have access to the Masonic
Center on 3rd Street all day.
9:00 a.m. –Breakfast - coffee, water, tea, cinnamon rolls
and fruit
12:00 p.m. – Lunch will be catered by NE Matt’s Catering
Service.
6:00 p.m. – Dinner will be catered by The Westside Event
Center (former Country Club).
7:30 p.m. – Class pictures – not included in registration
cost. (If you choose to order a picture, a 5x7 photo will be $10.00. Steph’s
Studio will mail them to you. Please
send the money at the same time as registration.)
There are tables set up in the Masonic Center for
card/game playing, a lounge for lounging J
and tables in the dining hall for eating.
As we did for our 50th, we’ll need volunteers for 2-3 hour
shifts just to make sure someone is always there.
The Masonic Center is not allowed to sell liquor but we
can bring beer, wine, etc. into the Center.
It was decided by the committee that it would BYOB for Saturday. A donation from the class will be made for
the use of the building.
There will be a memorial published in the Times-Herald in
memory of classmates who have passed away.
We have tried to make this as simple as possible so that
we can all just relax and enjoy each other’s company. The nominal fee for all this fun will be
$60.00 per person. Betty Lurvey Sup has
graciously agreed to collect the reservations and keep the records. Checks should be made out to Class of ’61
Reunion and sent to Betty Sup, 12806 Dewey Avenue, Omaha, NE 68154. Thanks,
Betty!!!
We’re all excited to see you – hope many of you can
attend.

On August 24 the second meeting was held. This information is from Chery Harris. (Those
classmates names underlined attended both meetings.
We had a good meeting tonight. Attending were RosaLee
Hoff, Wanda Beiber, Art Flores, Connie Ackerman, Janice
Lawrence, John Bauer, Lloyd Howell, Don Ferguson, and Cheryl
Harris. It has been decided that the
AHS Class of '61 55th reunion will be held September 9-10,
2016. It will all be simple, informal and fun!. We're going to the
golf course for snacks/light lunch Friday evening. Saturday we are going
to be at the Masonic Center on 3rd Street from 9 until ????. It will be a
nice place to have a gathering. It's air conditioned, has a large
room for eating/gathering, a lounge, two large bathrooms (important) and a room
that can be used for playing cards, etc.
We are inviting the St. Agnes Class of '61 to join us.
If you are in touch with any of them, encourage them to come.
An information sheet will be provided to everyone attending
with classmate names, current addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses.
Our next meeting will be September 21, 7:00 pm at
Hoffhaus. We'll decide on caterers, time on Friday night and the cost of

The committee wanted to remind everyone that the class voted
to have this 55th reunion during our 50th class reunion,
so they are very hopeful for a good turnout!!
If anyone has moved or changed their phone number since I
printed the 50th Class Reunion booklet, please let me know. If your email has changed, this email will be
returned to me and I will begin hunting for you! J
I won’t be hounding all of you for a write-up for a booklet,
current pictures, etc. so my contact with you will be limited. I will miss that. So, if any of you have events or stories you
want to share, send them to me and I will put them on the blog for all to see.
