Donald Edward Sanders, 69, of Thornton, passed away November 10,
2012 from complications of diabetes. He was born May 6, 1943 in Casper, Wyoming
to Ivan M. and Letha (Morris) Sanders. He married Sandra J. Buskirk on April
16, 1965.Donald attended Alliance, Nebraska public schools and graduated in 1961. He continued his education at Nebraska Western College and the University of Denver, graduating in 1969 with B.S. in Philosophy. He later graduated in 1971 from University of Denver Law School with Ll.D. and practiced law in Colorado and Nebraska.
He later attended Iliff School of Theology and graduated with a M.Div. He was a pastor with The United Methodist Church, serving Lyons, Windsor, Haxtun, Wiley and Walsenburg, Colorado; Upton, Wyoming; Haigler, Cody, Kilgore and Merriman, Nebraska as well as Walla Walla, Washington.
Donald is survived by his
children, Donald Edward Sanders II (Valerie)of Thornton, Elisabeth Ann Sanders
(Kevin Phieler) of Louisville, KY, Mary Noel Cohagen (Ryan) of Omaha, NE;
sister, Roberta Beers of Dixon, CA; six grandchildren, Katherine, Donald E. III
(D.J.), Andrew, Audrey, Bella, Ivan.He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Ivan Theodore (Ted) Sanders.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 2:00p.m. at The First United Methodist Church of Windsor, 503 Walnut Street, Windsor, CO 80550.

Another member of our Class of 1961 has passed on. I remember high school days with Don. God bless all of his family.
