In the past 50 years I served in the US Army from 1962 to 1965 stationed in San Antonio, TX, at Fort Sam Houston, Brooke General Hospital.  Met a WAC named Sandy from Indianapolis, IN and married her three months later, on April 3rd of 1965.  We came back to Alliance for the first three years of our marriage. Went to work for the railroad, bought a house, had our first child a girl named Amber Marie on June 25, 1966, our son Billy was born on April 23, 1968. My mother Catherine Risse Todd, died just before my son was born and I was laid off from the railroad.  When I was able to get on at Chrysler in Indianapolis, we moved here. We raised both of our children and Amber gave us our grandson Ryan in 1986 and he had a great run of being the one and only for seven years, before Amber finally gave us a granddaughter named Kate and then eight months later our son Bill, gave us girl number two, Allie, who weighed in at a whopping 1 pound, 5 ounces and 6 grams.  It was the best of times and the worst of times, and they all grew up to be some pretty good looking kids. Kate graduates this year and Allie next.
Sandy and I retired in Jan 1, 2000 ~ she from the local gas company and I from Chrysler. We wanted to get out while we still had some youth in us, but the joke was on us.  Sandy had to have a 5 way bi-pass done over the Memorial Day week-end the same year. So we got off to a bad start.  In May 2002 I had to go in for an artificial aorta and valve replacement and discovered I had inherited Marfans Syndrome.  My mother, brother Bob, and sister Judy had died from Marfans.  It is a connective tissue disease, also known as the giants disease. I had a lot of problems with the coumadin and in 2006 had to have the artificial valve replaced with a pig valve and aorta. So Sandy can sure make me squeal when she wants to.  I have had some other little problems since then, but the latest has been my back surgery.  It is doing very well, but I have a lot of breathing problems now, and I am on Oxygen all the time now, but doing well.  So if I make it to the reunion than I will see you there.  If not, I will see you down the road.   Footnote from Bill’s wife, Sandy ~ Bill went back to school and became a master carpenter.  He built some beautiful furniture in his life that the kids have already put their names on.
