I farmed until 1990 and then sold everything.  I owned a bar for five years.

Since Dixie is currently in Good Sam, Cheryl Edwards Harris went to interview her and write her information.  If it weren't for bad luck, Dixie wouldn't have much luck at all.  She has been in Good Sam a good part of the time from November of '07 until the present.  In '07 the wind blew her down and she broke her hip in three places.  The next year she sprained her ankle.  While in physical therapy, they found severe gout - so once again to Good Sam.  Her goal was to get out to go to Myrt's (Myrtle Chandler) New Year's Eve party.  In May, she broke her right femur and then broke her knee cap.  She stayed at home during that healing.  In Dec. of '09 she broke her ankle and stayed home until that healed.  She's one tough cookie.  In May I (Cheryl) was visiting at Good Sam and who should I see?  You guessed it - Dixie.  This time she tripped on an uneven sidewalk and ended up with a broken kneecap (the other one), a broken eye socket (and a spectacular black eye), and a crushed wrist.  Just as she was ready to be released, she fell in her room at Good Sam and broke her other kneecap.  See what I mean?

Dixie is looking forward to being released - soon, she hopes, and seeing her new dog.  She will also go to Tucson to visit her son David.
