She married Lynn E. Miller of Kearney, NE on September 1, 1963. Together, they farmed northwest of Kearney for over 50 years.
Peggy taught Mathematics at the University of Nebraska at Kearney from 1978 to 2005.
Following her retirement from teaching, she was employed with the Sorensen Group and served for over 15 years as an AARP Tax-Aide.
Peggy was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Kearney. She was also a member of the Friendship Sunday School class and Thursday morning Bible study. Her quiet, steadfast faith was her foundation; everything built upon that.
She is survived by her daughters, Robyn (John) Forkner of Spring Hill, KS, Brooke Miller of Kearney, NE and special friends who were loved as family, Mark and Karyn Dahlke.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lynn E. Miller, brother, Monte Rogers, and her parents.

~ Robyn, 1969; Brooke, 1973
The first few years consisted of college, marriage,
first teaching job, more school, children and finally back to the work
place. To detail that a little, I
graduated from Kearney State College (now UNK) in 1965 with a Bachelor of
Science in Education with emphasis on Mathematics and Science. Lynn and I were married in 1963 and while he
farmed the first year, he also graduated from Kearney State College in 1965. I then found a job teaching at Pleasanton
High School and Lynn went back to farming.
After two years at Pleasanton, I went back to school and received my
Master’s in Education with emphasis in Mathematics. I then took a few years off and Lynn and I
farmed and our family grew with the addition of two daughters, Robyn &
Brooke. When they were both in school, I
went back to teaching Mathematics at UNK and stayed there until 2005. Lynn and I farmed until 1991 and still
continue to have some pasture and alfalfa.
Most of the rest of our farm ground is now part of the city of Kearney,
so although we haven’t moved we are right across the road from the city
limits. Lynn worked in real estate and
appraisal services before retiring.
I now work part time for a local contractor and so
see the business side of things and the challenges associated with that. It is a different world than the academic
world I was part of for so long. Our
girls are both career girls: Robyn is a
funeral director in Olathe, Kansas, and lives with her husband, John, on an
acreage outside of Spring Hill. Brooke
is a Certified Public Accountant and has worked for the State of Nebraska and
is now with a public accounting firm here in Kearney.
My non-work
activities consist primarily of church activities—Bible Study, Sunday School,
and financial assistant. Since I retired
I have been serving as a volunteer for AARP doing volunteer tax preparation. We are primarily serving seniors and low to
middle income citizens, but do not turn anyone away if their return is within
our capabilities. We have a close group
of friends with whom we play cards, eat out most Friday evenings, and just
enjoy each other’s company. Faith,
family and friends are the foundations of our lives.
