Wanda Kay Beiber passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Highland Park Care Center. She was 81. She was born March 27, 1943 in Huron, South Dakota to Howard and Hazel (Sleater) Walston. On September 3, 1961, she was united in marriage to John R. Beiber, and blessed to have been married 48 years upon John’s passing in 2009.
She is survived by her children, Joni (Craig) Woods of Alliance, Kim Girard (Gene Psota) of Alliance, Chris (Brad) Peters of Custer, SD and Brad Beiber of Lincoln. She is also survived by her grandchildren, John (Stacy) Girard, Kaitlyn (Nate) Stabnow, Brad (Ashleigh) Peters, Brandon (Rachel) Girard, Chad (Alesha) Woods, Brooke (Tony) Brollini and Shawn Woods and her 17 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Myrna Dunn.
Wanda was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and was an active member in her community. When she wasn’t present in her kids, grandkids, and great grand kid’s activities, she could be found volunteering at the Collection Basket, BBGH gift shop, and other organizations. She enjoyed weekly book club, bible study, her coffee group, and monthly bridge club. She loved puzzles, and if you ask her family, she was quite the card shark.
In accordance with her wishes a graveside service will be held at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery. It will be on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Father Matt Koperski will officiate. Memorials may be given to Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1104 Cheyenne Avenue, Alliance or Highland Park Care Center, 1633 Sweetwater Avenue, Alliance.

took John, my sweetie of 48 years, on December 18, 2009. I wish he could
have left me his humor and quick wit. I fill a lot of my time with volunteer
work, family, and my good old girl-friends.
My
youngest grandson will be graduating
this year from AHS; two of the grandsons are heading for Afghanistan, leaving
for their pre training May 27th and then overseas mid-July.
It's
hard to believe that our class graduated 50 years ago! The old lady in
the mirror says that's true, but she seems kind of strange to me. Since
the 40 year bio, I did retire for good, and was glad I did because John and I
had the opportunity to travel whenever we felt the urge. We loved camping
and would go for a month or so at a time on several occasions. As a
matter of fact, camping almost did John in. A propane tank was
overfilled, and as a propane dealer was lifting one of the tanks out, it sparked
and blew John about 20 feet, breaking his hip. We happened to be in a
town that had a hospital and an orthopedic surgeon! I'm looking forward
to our reunion and hope to see many of you there. I hope many of you are
just procrastinators like me and that we have lots more reservations soon.

Carol & Steve Covington from Ventura, California, wrote on Oct. 1, 2024We were so sad to hear of Aunt Wanda's passing. As a young 11 y/o girl I met Aunt Wanda for the first time. I remember thinking that she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. I would sit for hours just watching her and listening to her lilting voice. I loved the special relationship she had with my grandparents, especially my grandmother. I will always cherish these memories. Condolences to my cousins, you were blessed to have such a great mother, and we are very sorry for your loss.- Connie Kirchner from Scottsbluff, wrote on Sep. 20, 2024Was saddened to hear of Wanda's passing. She was such a kind and caring person. Her bright light shines on, through you, her children and grandchildren. I remember getting book recommendations from her and she was usually right on target with those suggestions. She will be missed.

She was a year older and a grade ahead so that was doomed. When I was in town, I'd often stop in the Credit Union to say hello. I swam with John Dickie. Talk about an infectious smile. And that Impala. Stud on the Block. They were flat-out swell people. So pleased to have known them.
