Allen died at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha NE after a diagnosis of lung cancer. He is survived by his wife, Earlynn, three children (Jerrod of Omaha, Heath of Alliance, and Cara of Kansas City) and four grandchildren. Allen interrupted a teaching career to return to Alliance during the railroad boom when new housing was occurring and joined in the family stucco/drywall business. He later returned to teaching at AHS (Social Studies) for 23 years. He was STUCO faculty advisor for 19 of these years as well as some coaching. His passions were Spring turkey hunting in the Pine Ridge and fly fishing for trout. Earlynn (a retired teacher) also lives in Alliance.
