In Memory ~ Ginn, Curtis

In Memory ~ Curtis Lee Ginn 4-3-1943 to 8-16-2024

Curt was born in Rushville, NE, on April 3, 1943, to Enoch Samuel Ginn (1915-2001) and Pauline Elnor Lembrich Ginn (1918-2001).  Curt passed away Aug 16, 2024, at his home in Rapid City, SD.

Curt had two siblings, Elnor (1937-2019) and husband Charles Hucke (1938-1996), Phyllis (1939- ) and husband David Briggs (1939-2015).

Curt attended Alliance, NE Public Schools, graduating in the class of 1961.

Curt always loved going to his grandparents Gus & Tiny Lembrich’s. After graduating from high school, he worked for them on their farm south of Hay Springs, NE.

1962, Prom weekend, while cruising the streets of Hay Springs in his ’58 Chevy, Curt met local schoolgirl Doris Smith, which would lead to over 60 years of marriage.

1964, while they were living on a farm, their son Michael was born in Chadron, NE. Curt started working for the REA in Alliance, NE in May 1965, as a lineman.  Their daughter Shiela was born in Alliance in 1966. In 1972, the family moved to Kremmling CO. where Curt worked for the US Bureau of Reclamation.  In 1974, while they lived at Green Mtn Dam their daughter Michelle was born. The family lived at Green Mtn Dam, Colorado until 1976, when Curt transferred to the Government division of Western Area Power, near Rapid City, SD.  Curt retired in 2004. Curt & Doris have lived in Rapid City ever since.

Curt loved motorcycles and tractors. He always enjoyed working on the family farms. He spent time in Utah renovating his daughter Michelle’s home. Through the years different grandkids lived with them to attend college or work.  He spent countless hours helping his children and grandchildren on any project. Curt was a meticulous worker. He was steadfast, thinking of ingenious ways he could fix things to make them better or more efficient. Curt’s family always came first.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Doris; their three children Michael (Julie), Shiela Letcher, and Michelle. Seven grandkids: Derek Ginn, Niesha Ginn-Fairhead (Richard), and Kinlee Ginn-Stetson (Nick Stetson), Bryce, Tauna, Nate (Erica) and Hunter.  Seven great-grandkids: Kamdyn, Livie, Juliana, Amara, Link, Rex, Jamari.

Curt is also survived by his sister Phyllis Briggs and Aunt Joyce Alcorn.

Curt was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law Dale Smith & Gaylon Kelly, son-in-law Vern Letcher, his uncle Robert Alcorn and cousin Guylia Alcorn-Hahn, nieces Elaine Hucke & Bernie Boness-Briggs.
