50 years! Where has the time gone? Bruce and I still live in Lee's Summit, MO, a suburb of Kansas City, MO.  One of us is retired, and one of us is still working.  I’m the working one and still enjoy my jobs.  I’m an RN working full time at an outpatient clinic in the inner city by day, and a house supervisor at a local psychiatric hospital by night (three nights a week).

Two of our three children live close by, so we get to see them and our grandchildren quite often.  Our daughter, Brenda and her husband, Brian, and our two granddaughters, Madeline and Gabrielle, live about 30 minutes away from us.  We are able to attend many of their sports and school events. Tim, our youngest, and his two sons, Tyler and Tanner, live about 20 minutes away so we are also able to attend a number of their functions.  Our oldest son, Brad is still in the Air Force and stationed in Louisiana (currently on a tour of duty in Guam).  His wife, Kelly and our two grandsons, Shawn and Matthew, talk quite often while Brad is away.  Bruce and I are both doing well after some health issues this past year.  Bruce had back surgery, while I am a cancer survivor, once again. This was my third time in the past ten years having had cancer, so I feel very fortunate that I have had wonderful doctors.  I have remained positive throughout the treatments, and have had the Lord's help in overcoming the cancer.  I often have thought of what Vince Lombardi once said: "lt’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get back up."  I plan to keep getting back up for years to come.

In the past few years, we have been fortunate enough to have been able to travel throughout the United States and abroad, as well as take a number of cruises. We have revisited all the places throughout the United States we have lived since getting married 48 years ago.  Hopefully we will be able to continue to travel in the years to come.  With the exception of a few bumps and detours in the road, life has been good. Looking forward to our 50th reunion and seeing everyone.

  1. Sad news. My prayers to her family. Lorraine will always remain in my memories as a classmate and friend with a big, warm smile. I am so glad that I got to see her at the 50th Reunion.
